How do I start?

Create your account, open the current Set and collect your starting cards. Football lineups use five players: a goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward and an extra outfield player. Pick from the cards available to you, check their fixtures and enter your team.

Id start with the football you know. A player you expect to start is more useful than a famous name who might get ten minutes. Learn how your first lineup scores before worrying about the perfect collection.

Can you play Sorare Sets for free?

Yes. Theres a free route into Sets through starter cards, free packs and rewards earned as you play. You dont need to buy Pro cards to try it.

Spending comes in when you choose to buy Gems, which can be used on eligible packs. Essence is another resource used for packs and is earned through play, missions and collection progress. The available packs and prices depend on the Set.

For me, free first is the sensible route. Opening more packs gives you more options, but it doesnt tell you who starts on Saturday. Set yourself a budget if you do spend. Rewards arent guaranteed to cover it.

How does Sorare scoring work?

A footballer's base score runs from 0 to 100. Goals, assists and other major contributions feed the decisive score. The all-around score captures the rest of their performance. Thats why a player can score well without scoring a goal.

Your card score adds the applicable bonuses to that base. Add your five card scores together for the lineup total. As a simple example, a base score of 60 with a 10% bonus becomes 66.

Check your card and captain bonuses on the board youre entering. Dont assume one competition's percentages apply everywhere. Id look at both a player's regular scoring and their bigger performances. One 95 doesnt make someone a safe captain every week.

How do you move through the board?

Each step has a score target. Reach it with a valid lineup and, once the result is validated, you move forward. Attempts are limited by the lives shown on your board. Your lineup locks when the first selected player's match starts.

The exact targets, lives and reset conditions belong to the current board. Check those before entering. Im not carrying Hyperglitch's numbers over and pretending they are Divination's rules.

The interesting bit is timing. Look at which games finish early, which players you might need later and what happens if the first attempt fails. Thats the thinking behind The Climb tool im building.
